Song a Day or whatever #7

Rate this Entry
Well, I was having some trouble deciding what to do for this one. I shuffled my music library and picked the first song that felt worthy of an entry, and then as I wrote that I thought of something that I liked more. Well, it's my lucky number 7 entry, so why not look into a bit of my own personal history with music.

Fun fact: this was the first song I ever bought. This was the first song that entered my iTunes library. This fucking song. You see, back when I first started listening to music (probably somewhere in 6th grade... I think. Definitely no later than that) the stuff I used to find music was limited to say the least. I didn't buy albums at all at the time, so I only listened to singles and other random songs. There were 4 main ways I found music back then, from my parents (BARELY anything, I found the vast majority of the stuff they listened to to be kinda boring at the time), random ass songs on the hot 100 alternative songs list on iTunes, my local alternative rock radio station 104.1, and songs that I bought accidentally thinking they were the ones from the radio station. The song above comes from the third category, I pretty much fell in love with it immediately when I heard it at the time. The vast majority of the stuff I got back then were singles from that station. I claimed that Weezer was my favorite band in 6th grade but I had less than 10 songs by them, so yeahhhhhh. So that's a bit of log history or whatever.

Now for the actual song itself because wynaut. Well, I certainly don't like it as much as I did when I first got it, that's for sure. Actually, I kind of got bored with it eventually back then too, but I think my enjoyment of it kind of rebounded a bit. However, that is kind of biased by the sentimental value. While I haven't posted all that many songs yet, I can assure you, upbeat songs with an optimistic message are something I have VERY little of, I have barely anything if you don't count the Beatles. But you know, it's a fun catchy song, and the guitar's pretty fun. From what I gather, most of Jimmy Eat World's stuff isn't like this, but I haven't really listened to them outside of singles. The other song by theirs I have is called Pain, and being the emo boy I am I like that one better. But really, now that I think about it, it's kind of ironic that this was the first song I ever got. Because while the kid that first got this was somewhat socially awkward he did not really have much use for this message. However, in my current state I've become more depressed in general, so maybe I do need to believe in this kind of message. Well, I guess in my context the message would basically be "just wait out high school cause college will be better mang." I hope so Jimmy Eat World, I hope so =P seriously what kind of band name is that?

Hey I remember this song! I DEFINITELY played this on Guitar Hero one time. It used to come across my dad's Pandora almost incessantly. I do like the song, but I also got burnt out on it after a while (everyone in my family ended up playing it all the time).
