Song a Day or whatever #14

Oh hey, it's been two weeks now. I suppose there's a super obvious pick but Sanic already picked it and there are PLENTY of Grizzly Bear songs I like more than that. So how about someone that has absolutely nothing to do with Grizzly Bear? I arbitrarily decided to listen to this album again today, feels like it has been a while.

I've been trying to avoid posting songs I picked for the what song are you listening to thread or whatever so the one I felt more inclined to pick at first is off the table but... hey, this one's gr8 too m8. As is this album in general really, I'd probably give it about a 9/10. Honestly, I should probably look into getting more Bjork albums beyond Homogenic, but I suppose that shall be for a later time... or if I can't think of anything better to spend my last 15 dollars of gift card money on.

Now onto the song itself :3 so... how about that beat? One thing I like about this album is how well they combine the strings and electronic music. It's honestly kind of surprising how well they mesh together, considering how they're basically the exact opposites as far as instruments go. One has a more traditional/classical vibe, while electronic is well, electronic. To be fair, this song is not the best example of that, since there's not even all that much strings here, yeah there's a bit of it towards the end but the electronic stuff dominates here. And in this case, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Anybody can tell when an electric guitar's supposed to sound "angry." However, how the fuck is a beat supposed to? Kind of hard to explain in words, but this beat seems to pull it off pretty well. It's not pretty, it's not easy listening, it's abrasive at times, and it does what it sets out to do almost perfectly.

As far as the lyrics go, I quite like them too. They're REALLY direct by my standards, and hot damn is she reking this guy. "I dare youuuuu to show me your palms" ah yesssss if only the real world worked like that. "Hey hot chick, I DARE you to kiss me and love me forever. What, you don't want to? What are you? A PUSSY?" Oh if only that actually worked. I also just love how she sings that "You can't handle line" for whatever reason. Honestly, I just like her singing in general. Not only is it distinctive, but it's actually really good (I mean, Silento has a distinctive voice too so YOU KNOWWWWWWWWWWWW). I mean, this obviously isn't the best example of how nice her voice sounds since she's trying to sound angry/sassy/whatever the fuck, but check out Joga or Bachelorette for more details :3

It's so weird how different the Grizzly Bear stuff I've been listening to is from Two Weeks. I mean, I've only listened to a very small few, but they're not what I expected at all.

I never did get around to listening to Homogenic for my Album Review Thread (BUT I WILL ONE OF THESE DAYS) so this is... uh... yeah I should've checked out that album then. Man Bjork has an awesome voice based on this song. I guess as you said it's probably not the most indicative of her general singing style because of the anger present but I can tell how cool her voice is.

Yeah, Two Weeks is not really indicative of Grizzly Bear's music like, at all. They're in my top 5 favorite bands btw xP

But yes, her voice is gr8 m8
