In other news: Pink Floyd is a great band
This album covers quite a few broad topics, from money to mental illness to time in general, or in this case, war. And invariably, their commentary on such topics are quite good. This song does a good job addressing the futility and the tribalism of warfare, and yada yada yada. The way the lyrics are structured is kind of simplistic but to be honest it kind of works that way. It shows a contrast of two sides, and makes an observation of the true nature of those two sides. I'm definitely a fan of the way most of the song plays soft before basically going full blast... and then going back to soft. Not exactly the most unique of musical concepts admittedly (perhaps less common at the time) but I still love it when it happens.
