Song a Day or whatever #79-80

Rate this Entry
Welp, I missed On a Friday, but I still want to talk about Pool Shaped Moon today. So... here's the only other Pool Shaped Moon song on youtube probably. Also, I may or may not miss yet another day by the time I'm done typing this up... we'll see.

I certainly like how they implemented all of those classical instruments this time around, the above song is a pretty obvious example of that. Ummmmm... At the moment I'd probably put this album right smack in the middle. Considering Radiohead's standards, that's not a bad thing. Again, my opinions fluctuate over time, but that's how I'd rank it at the moment. Speaking of fluctuating opinions, I guess I might as well rank the songs off of this album. Pretty much every other Radiohead album has one or two clearly weaker songs on the album, but this one is probably the absolute best when it comes to keeping the quality consistent. However, it lacks the clear standout songs like some of the other albums have too, making this list pretty hard to make. It's also worth noting that I haven't bothered to listen to any of the earlier versions of these songs other than True Love Waits, perhaps doing so would influence my opinions on them somewhat, but shrug.

Spoiler:
1. Ful Stop
2. Daydreaming
3. True Love Waits
4. Identikit
5. Decks Dark
6. The Numbers
7. Desert Island Disk
8. The Present Tense
9. Tinker Tailor
10. Burn the Witch
11. Glass Eyes

And Glass Eyes is not even a remotely bad song so... yep.

As for the other one... ummm... here's a song probably

ahhhhh the good ole' 90s

I will suggest ES Posthumus until it's posted or one of us dies.

I guess I'll provide my revised Poo Shaped Mool ranking.

    Spoiler:
    1. Present Tense
    2. Decks Dark
    3. Identikit
    4. The Numbers
    5. Burn the Witch
    6. Glass Eyes
    7. Full Stop
    8. Daydreaming
    9. Desert Island Disk
    10. True Love Waits
    11. Tractor Trailer

Pains me to put... anything below anything really. I'm still not used to studio TLW which is why it's a little low.. I'd agree this is their most consistent though (other than OKC if we remove Fitter Happier) and is exactly in the middle of their discography.

I think Glass Eyes is the most likely to be a "grower" track for me. Was easily my least favorite at first but is steadily rising up the rankings.
