Get over it!

We all know what Miley did In case you don't: Miley Cyrus (used to be Hannah Montana) twerked the groin of Robert Thicke at the VMAs. During this, she stripped down to a skin-like colored skin tight bikini-like costume. There are two moral things that are wrong with this:

1. Miley Cyrus was twerking, granted she's 20.
2. Robert Thicke is married and has children.

But there's just one thing I have to say about this: Get over it. Now don't get me wrong, I think it was very low (no pun intended) and very vulgar for her to do that, especially to a married man. Even worse, Robert and Miley knew this thing was gonna happen. This wasn't a surprise (except to those not part of the staff) to either of them.

However, I must say: Get over it. There are worse celebrities you guys still venerate.

Lance Armstrong: Although opened up a charity for people with cancer, he funded it and got his money through cheating and possibly developed an addiction, but I cannot confirm that last one.

Elvis, the King of Rock. Abused drugs and started an unhealthy eating habit. I'm not trying to say it's bad to be fat, but in the case of Elvis, he could've prevented it.

Whitney Housten: I don't mean to speak ill of the dead, but she abused drugs which eventually led to her death.

George Washington: Sure, he created the USA but the ideas of liberty were only limited to land-owning white men, even though he fought for "Equality for all men" but owned slaves himself.

Che Guevera: There's a lot of dispute around this guy, but it's said that he killed anti-revolutionaries in death camp like facilities and places. Either which way, he also instated Cuba with a dictatorial-communist leadership.

Steve Jobs: Yes, I'm going here. It's said that (at the very least with some of) the i/Apple products were made by other workers part of Apple, but Steve Jobs took the credit for himself.

There are plenty of celebrities/famous people that have done very immoral things, yet you guys (not all of you, but surely some of you guys who complained about Miley venerate these guys) venerate the people I just mentioned. And if you use the "Well celebrities make mistakes" then you're being a hypocrite, because that was Miley's mistake. All she did was twerk. Yes it was vulgar, yes it was completely uncalled for, and yes it may have killed the hearts of her followers when she was Hannah Montana, but you know what? She grew up. She's 20 years old. Not very old, but in the eyes of the law and in parts of society, that's old enough to make her own decisions. Next time you say "Miley is the worst!" on the grounds of her twerking, just remember that all celebrities have done something immoral and/or stupid. Miley just happens to be one that a lot of people got attached to. To end this, I restate,

Get over it!

Thank You Lawl. I tried to say this when the last blog over her was created and was ignored. Glad to see I am not alone with these thoughts

I think it's dumb myself. Katy Perry and Lady Gaga do the same things, but no reaction.

I dont get what Jobs or Washington did wrong.
It was made by others but designed by Jobs.
In 1800 America, it was normal to have slaves, so Washington has nothing bad done. He even wrote in a book that he was slowly turning against but he died

I honestly never cared. Not a big deal to me.

But good for you telling the others to stop caring, LAWL.

So you're telling me that it's ok to have slaves. Whether it was normal or not back then doesn't change the fact that it was hypocritical and wrong.

As wrong as owning people is, I always understood it as Washington not wanting to go completely apeshit on everything people believed in at once. He wanted to tackle the revolution from England before slaves.

Imma need some textual evidence on this.

Evidence of this is in the Declaration of Independence and in the Constitution. Neither of them talk about slavery (even though one of them talks about "All men are created equal" but that's for another time). It's rational to think that they didn't want to bring up slavery so that they (the Founding Fathers) either 1. Supported it, and/or two 2. Didn't want to get everyone in a fuss. Because before the Civil War, the country was called "These United States", used by a plural by anyone who wanted to reference the collection of states. After the Civil War, we were officially "The United States".

That doesn't mean he had to own slaves. Either which way, it was, and still is wrong.

Thanks for that lawl continue on.

However to others don't use that it was a different time bull crap. Looking further into Washington thought a gradual abolishing of slavery but didn't emancipate his slaves till after he died. Saying one thing doing the other.

If you want to use the excuse it was a different time we can use the same thing can be used for Miley it's a different time and tweaking is the in thing and no Miley isn't teaching kids to be (sluts) odd as it was the same age demographic that made tweaking popular. The kids have had more influence on her than vise versa

Uh, tweaking's a bit different from twerking, Noremac.

    But I agree.

Just saying, you have to consider the times.

and why are times not being considered today? why can't we look at current events and say we have to consider the times.

In Ancient Egypt it was considered right and okay to kill the pharaoh's slaves so that the pharaoh didn't go into the afterlife alone.
Under the rule of Draco in Ancient Greece, you would be killed for being lazy, and for stealing, even if it was something like an apple.
In WWI and WWII soldiers who wouldn't go into battle or retreated were shot for cowardice.
In the 1950s it was considered right and okay for places, both private and public, to be segregated.

It doesn't matter the times. They still did those actions. If time could heal all wounds, then racism still wouldn't be a problem, sexism would be gone, and people would be forever forgiving. Unfortunately, time only heals some wounds. These wounds of the social world, that affect people's mental/psychological health and state don't go away so easy. It doesn't matter what time they did it. Those actions were done. It's all horrible history.

Jesus, I say one thing and this happens.

Yeah, George Washington had slaves, I can't change that. History is history.

We don't say too consider the times in reference to the present because the present is fluid and capable of change. I don't expect tiem to heal wounds because it won't.

I'm just saying that, given the circumstances, for a man who grew up with slavery being a thing, it wouldn't be easy to completely stop that kind of thing.

When you add the fact he had his own slaves' emancipation in his will, signed a bill to practically abolish the practice in part of the Colonies, and that he had an entire goddamn country to tend to, I'd say he was relatively a stand-up guy. Just my opinion.

Now, please, remember I'm not George Washington and leave me be.
