Why I Think The Question of Higher Beings is Ridiculous

Rate this Entry
The reason isn't because I'm an atheist. It's because there are so many more things to discover and improve upon that the question just hinders that progress. We're here on this planet making a story made by us, made of us, and made for us. It doesn't matter why or how we're on this planet, because there'll be no improvement of life on it. If someone told you that a god did exist, then what? You'd go back to your normal or slightly changed life. That's it. For the most part, people would go back to their daily lives. With a god or without one, we still have roles to play, and jobs to do. For what reason would we stop enhancing, and bettering lives? Medicines will still be needed, surgeries will still need to be done, education will still be important in the modern world, and doing good and being nice will still be appreciated.

It also shouldn't matter what a person believes in or lack thereof. Christianity says to be good to your neighbors, Judaism and Islam don't allow forced conversion, along with Buddhism, Hinduism, and even Zoroastrianism. Basically all religions have a fundamental "Don't be a dick" rule. If you're a religious person or not, you should follow that rule. It'll make the world a better, kinder, and possibly even less violent place.

Hank Green said in one of his videos "Sometimes I feel like when someone asks me if I believe in God, it's like a blind person asking if I'm black to put me in the right category." And Hank isn't entirely wrong.

Thank you for reading, and as always, don't forget to be awesome

If religion didn't exist, I believe crime rate would increase

I feel I could get away with certain crimes, and I'm damn sure many others do

What keeps me from paying for and then killing that prostitute?

The prospect of Heaven and God

So if religion didn't exist, you'd be a total dick and hurt everyone? Are you saying that I'm an immoral person that goes out and does crime? You know what keeps me from doing crimes? My own morals bro. And let me put this into perspective for you: If your parents say you'll be grounded for 2 years if you stole a candy bar from the store, does that mean you automatically believe stealing is wrong? Of course not. I'm rather offended that you think I, and all other decent atheists out there would do something like that.

Crime rate would not automatically increase just because religion was out of the picture. Just because I don't have a god and or some judgement after death doesn't mean I go out and hurt people. In fact, I'd say I'm rather the opposite.

    I'm not saying you are

I'm saying a good amount of people in general

And no, I wouldn't hurt random people for funsies

but I would be a bit less hesitant about crime

So you admit that you'd turn more immoral and more of a savage person just because someone wasn't looking down on you? And yes you did say that. Because you said that without religion, crime rate would increase, because we think we have no one looking down on us. The fact that you'd be less hesitant on crimes is rather sickening if you want my blunt honesty. You shouldn't do good things because you'll get a reward. You should do good things because it'll make the world a better place, even if it means your life gets a bit worse.

    Yes!

And frankly, I don't care about your blunt honesty, for your opinion is no impact or significant force on my life

I'd like to apologize for my behavior. I was taking your message too personally. It felt like you were saying that I, and all other atheists, less moral.

    Not at all

People are people, who make their own choices

Not to mention atheists, since they already believe there is no God (or Godly being I believe?) haven't turned to crime in the slightest.

    I'm just saying

    I might

If god didn't exsist, where did the...
    - universe come from
    - I'm Christian but I believe in the Big Bang, what created the Big Bang? god
    - how did earth get to the perfect location for life
    - how could've water been created?
    - where could could've the complexity of DNA come from?
    - how did Rock get created from the Big Bang?
There must be a force behind all of this, that's why I believe in God.

I'm not here to discuss existence. For the answers you seek, you should head to nasa.gov and ask a scientist because I am not specialized in physics.

I'd also like to point out that saying "Science can't answer it" doesn't mean that it's false. It's only further proving that, quite honestly, you don't know what you're talking about either. It's like saying "Oh, the teacher doesn't know the answer to the question, so I must be right". Yeah, no.

Basically how I view it is just by looking at the world today, and how vast and amazing it is. I don't think all of this could have just "happened." There had to be someone who did it. Which I believe is God, and therefore I'm a Catholic.

I'm not at all saying you have to agree with me, I'm just saying my personal view on the matter.
