Just a little something

Education is often considered the backbone of a nation or an entity. Every job, white collared to even blue collared jobs, require some form of education. Simple mathematics, physics, and sometimes knowledge about the workings of modern technology, like computers and other computer hardware. Education is important to every nation. Why don't we start acting like it?
I have the fortunate life of not experiencing many bad teachers, but I am just one of many students of the public school system. I realize that the public school system cannot accommodate every student's needs and plans as it would cost too much, and require too much work to sustain. But we can start with teachers that can actually education.
A number of teachers just hand out packets with questions pertaining to the textbook of the class that the teacher copied and pasted from the teacher's version of the textbook. There are teachers who are not engaged to their fullest extent with their students. Those are the teachers who are not teachers. They are merely accepting the work-free pay check.
It is to my unfortunate knowledge that at times teachers do not act upon bullying when it is brought to their knowledge. My brother and another friend of mine are prime examples. When faced with harassment from their peers, teachers simply told them "If it happens again, tell me. There's nothing we can do now" which is a bold faced lie. You are teachers. Part of your job description is to help facilitate learning in a safe environment. If you cannot do what your job tells you to do, then you should be fired or punished.
I know I am but a student who may not know what goes on after the last bell rings to go home, but I am directly affected by the bad teachers, as they make my peers unready for the future if they cannot learn in a proper manner.
A teacher should be involved with the students, both in and out of the classroom if needed. The teacher should be creative enough to get the minds of the students active while they receive information from the teacher, but should be straight forward enough so that one could understand the information at hand without unneeded difficulty.
I also realize that students can be at fault for not receiving the information, through disrupting the class, or simply not willing to cooperate. In which case, proper punishment should be given to ensure that everyone else can learn so their future may be better.
As students, we are being cheated out of a good education by the teachers who think of their occupation as just an occupation, a job, or a paycheck. We are being cheated out of a better future by teachers who refuse to do their job or do their job well. We are the future of this nation in which ever state we reside. Even if students are in different nations, we are this world's future. It is the duty of both the student and the teacher to be prepared for the future of us, and after us.
Students should be excited to learn, but we are not excited because of teacher after teacher giving us worksheets and packets to do without guidance of an expert. Packets and worksheets are not bad, but when those techniques are the only ones being used to teach a class, the class will get bored, and will grow to resent not only the teacher and the subject, but learning all together.
So I say this: Something doesn't need to be done about the students. Students don't need to learn how to sit down and stay quiet. We've been doing that for a very long time for teachers who don't do their job. I agree with Sir Ken Robinson when he said "I'm not saying ADHD doesn't exist… but I don't believe it's an epidemic" I agree with him because adults foolishly expect human children, who learn through experience, who learn through activity and not through sitting down, doing something that no one enjoys doing and are surprised when children want to go outside for once, or want to do something fun with the class.
A revolution in education needs to happen, but not with the students so much. It needs to happen with how teachers are regulated, and how teaching is brought out to the children. Bad teachers need to leave, and good teachers need to step up and share with the world their talent and passion for education. Not just for 2014, or 2015. But for every year to come. All the way until the Earth is destroyed.
Education isn't a job. It's a process. It's a hands-on activity that requires involvement from students, teachers, and even parents. Students are getting tired of getting blamed for not wanting to sit down. Parents are tired of getting blamed for not getting involved enough. Teachers, start putting emotion and passion into your profession. Start putting effort in like everyone else does.
