Crash Course erboh.com History: Entry 1 (The Beginning)

Rate this Entry
Hello everyone, and welcome to Crash Course erboh.com History. Throughout at least five blog posts (maybe more) I’m going to be summarizing the history of our glorious and gracious home away from home from its very beginning up until about now. So what’re we waiting for everyone? Let’s do this!

We start this long story about a little less than three years ago, October 2nd, 2011. That’s when the forum was first made and started with a few threads, introductions, fan made battles, and discussion of the real rap battles. But there’s something before this time that a few of us remember: the voting site. erboh.com used to be a voting website, where people would vote on the rap battles, and could watch the rap battles (ultimately connecting with Youtube.com). This website, along with the beginning of the forum, are the roots of how the forum is even to this day, because it was clearly for ERB, and it showed that people were interested and that ERB had an audience. These factors are crucial as to how our forum formed, how it was found by many people, and how ERB itself evolved into what it is today.

But back to October, the beginnings of the website were very basic. There were three or so threads (Not sections, THREADS) where people could post stuff about them, post their own fan made rap battles, and could discuss the rap battles. It was the most that was needed at the time, because not a lot of people even found their way to the website until more people started actively looking for a forum for ERB. You can even find some ancient relics on the website right now. If you go to the fan made rap battle section, and click on “Old Fan Made Battles Index”, you can find a few or more battles from most if not everyone who was around at the time. I suggest going there if you’re not familiar with the older days of the forum, it gives an idea as to how most people were like back then.

The forum kept this very early stage until the beginnings of Season 2, in which since the rap battles had enough of a fan base on Youtube to warrant a second season, enough people were actively looking for a forum about ERB, thus increasing activity on the site, leading to more people finding it on Google. This ultimately led to Dion having to help ERBOH (Rob) out due to more things needing to be done. It’s also around this time that more threads and actual sections being added to the forum in order to accommodate the higher activity.

That’s the most I can talk about the early parts of the forum without getting into more complex stuff, like the groups, the more elaborate rap battles, forum contests, fan art, and more in depth discussion of the rap battles, which all deserve a blog entry dedicated to them, but I want to get one big point across to all of those who are reading this: change in crucial.

Throughout these blog entries, you’ll notice that I’m talking about close to nothing except change after change after change, and I’ll do my best as to how those things affected the forum. Change is a key point to this forum, as change itself has been the motor that kept and keeps this forum of ours running. Thank you all for reading, see you next time.
