~New Idea~

I think you need to be admin or owner of the website can do this so if the owner is reading this,I hope you like my idea and use it.

When each group goes into their private section,they should have a cool background

ex:I am in havok,I think it would be cool if the background was ALL black and you know how on both sides its just,plain gray,Make that black,then,make it spell havok with the letters going down like this=

V
O
K
, But in cool letters,+ I will design it if you want.I think each group should design there own(The owner of group should)But Ill design it for havok...Or we can make it a contest...each person in group makes one, best one makes it

Well,The owner can defantly do that,btw,he made the site,he can edit it any way he wants to.

oh,I read your reply wrong...I didnt notice they were using a different unfamiliar software....But, Im pretty sure he can edit it any way he wants to...Thats what I think, Correct me if im wrong

It would probably be very difficult because the forum software that's set for this site most likely doesn't have the correct capabilities to do what you suggested.

I've used phpBB and I believe it is impossible, Considering that you can't give individual forums a certain skin. Like, the skin this board uses, is called prosilver Special Edition. A user can actually change his/her skin in the UCP. And I don't think that you can have the skin change automatically when you enter a certain section of the forum. Plus, I don't think you can make your own skin and put it on the forum. They give you a list.

Although, I could be wrong, and haven't looked deep enough into the ACP. I suppose we have to wait and see what Rob says.

If you code your website, from the ground up, you can do everything. (That can be done in coding)

Yes, as Dion, SR, and Spartica have said, it would be very difficult for me to do that for specific sections since its not a feature included in the forum software (and there aren't any modifications out there to do it). It would be possible to do it by create a handle that overrides the default forum skin, but I would have to know a lot more PHP to be able to write code like that :(

I can however, easily make section-specific banners, add new 'banner' locations for specific sections, and add new skin options to the site.

If anyone wants a copy of our layout (like SR said, ProSilver SE), I can send you a copy of the code. So basically, you can make your own skins (but it would be like that for all sections you visit, not just a group's section). This would only be useful if you have some coding knowledge though (mainly CSS & a little HTML).

If you guys want, I can make some different color schemes with the layout (that would be pretty simple for me to do if you can give me some specific color scheme suggestions).

This is a good idea though, making group sections more personalized.
If anyone has some specific ideas to personalize their group section, let me know and I'll see what I can do. Maybe make a topic about it in Site Stuff, so others can see your ideas, and I'll reply.
As far as the 'banner locations' go, you can get pretty creative with it. I can insert the code pretty much anywhere, and make it section specific. It can also be text or code instead of an image/banner. I haven't really done this yet though, so it would be a little experimental/might not work :laugh:

But also, you need to be careful about changing the colors of the layout, since the banners are made specifically for that grey background.

How about we make a skin for every group, wigh a banner, (doesn't rotate. just one made for that skin.) and you can change your skin in the UCP to your group's theme.

And so that if you don't WANT the custom skin, you can keep prosilver Special. But, It honestly sounds like a decent idea to me. ;)

Yes, special skins should keep the gray box that the banners are in, for simplicity :pimp:

I don't think I've edited the css much, so its basically the same as the code you would get if you downloaded it from phpbb's site. I'll get it into a file for you on thursday night though.

The files for the prosilver theme/template/imageset are attached.
Most things that you want to edit will probably be in the colors and common theme files.
Please don't download this unless you plan on editing it :)
You might want to head to phpbb.com and download you're own phpbb forum to test these things out on.

You can send me the files and I can upload them as an alternative skin to the forums.

Make sure you don't change div/id names, because if the template isn't based completely on prosilver/prosilver SE, then it won't update well with the forum software and it won't work well with modifications I install.
