I wish he would've parodied Thriller
Weird Al is literally my idol! I was actually on my way here to make a discussion about Al, then I saw this! I saw him in the Uptown Theater in Napa over the summer. SECOND BEST MOMENT OF MY LIFE (first was going to Disneyland when I was 7)!!!!! Sooo......yeah.
His live shows are AWESOME, so much hilarity, his "interviews" are amazing, at the Civic he had to come back for THREE fucking encores I have never seen such a rowdy crowd at a concert, we wouldn't let him leave lol.
I can't wait for Album 14! Should we speculate?
Sure! I read somewhere that he said the surprise of what the album is is a big part if it.Quote:

Oy vey (and I'm not even Jewish)!
I hope this isn't bringing up too old of a topic, but here's some recent Al news!
-Al is featured in GQ's Comedy Issue for June along with The Lonely Island
[spoiler:2z6323id]GQWeirdAlLonelyIsland.jpg[/attachment:2z6323id]
GQWeirdAlLonelyIsland2.jpg[/attachment:2z6323id][/spoiler:2z6323id]
-Al was in the studio recently recording 3 new songs for Al-bum 14. There are horns involved.
[spoiler:2z6323id]Al-bum14- 3 more songs.jpg[/attachment:2z6323id][/spoiler:2z6323id]
This brings the total of songs finished up to 6 in total, which means *drum roll* Half the Al-bum is finished!
My bet is 5/6 are the originals, 6 is the polka medley & what's left to record are the parodies! (maybe 5)
-Al will be doing a Reddit IAmA on June 27 at 5:00 PM EST- 2:00 PM PST
[spoiler:2z6323id]WeirdAlYankovicIAmA.png[/attachment:2z6323id][/spoiler:2z6323id]
-Al is performing live on YouTube Comedy Week, on the 24th. (The same show where Nicepeter & Dante will be playing acoustics. Nicepeter said they probably won't perform together though :( )
[spoiler:2z6323id]WeirdAlNicepeterAcousticShow.png[/attachment:2z6323id][/spoiler:2z6323id]
-Al's new children book "My Teacher And Me!" will be released June 25 (but pre-orders are available)
http://www.amazon.com/My-New-Teacher.../dp/0062192035
That is an update in Al News for now! That's "Al" folks! :lawl:
Let's ask him if he might be in a rap battle during the reddit iama
I was thinking about it, but I'm sure he knows nothing about being in any future rap battles unless Nicepeter or Dante would want to ask him if they see him around Comedy Week. Which they might, hopefully. I'm surprised he wasn't asked when he stopped by Maker Studios a couple years ago, I mean he even took a picture with carbonite Hitler!Quote:

Now it is important after listening to the definite must listen to's, you want to go back & listen to the other songs not listed. A lot of the songs are masterpieces, which is why this list is so long (I even tried cutting it down a few times & look how long it still is  )
Oh man, I just now remember how epic Ode To a Superhero is :D
Did anybody watch Al's performance on YouTube's Comedy Week?
He performed "Wanna B UR LOVR". He sang for a few minutes, until they mixed the track, making the song end WAY too early. He didn't know it was going to happen & they just cut him off before the second verse was even over. Whoever was in charge did some seriously poor planning & letting Al know about it.
But on a positive note, if Al was wearing the new suit for WBUL live performances, it looked great :)
[youtube:ah2eh964]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nGW7-zbysc[/youtube:ah2eh964]
Al comes on at 2:13:10 then performs until 2:15:50, which means the performance was 2:40 when the actual song is 6:15.
Bringing back an old topic (because, let's face it, Weird Al freaking rocks!) to start some more speculation on Al-bum 14. He tweeted that he did the cover shoot for it about a month ago, but not to expect it sometime in the near future. That probably means he also has the title of the album, too.
Anyway, as parodies/polkas go, I think we'll definitely see some One Direction and PSY. We may see Blurred Lines, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Austin Mahone, etc.
He's definitely going to be in Season 3. No questions asked.
So...yea.
Now that you're bringing back the Al topic... I'll be sure to update as much as I can on predictions, etc. (Thanks for bumping this back btw Zawesome)
Here are just some updates about Al-bum 14. (I'll respond some possible parody targets & what I predict for the polka later on)
As far as Al-bum 14 goes, half of it's done, the rest is the polka & the parodies. We know for a fact one video was filmed in March.
As for songs, Jon said that there is one super long like "Albuquerque" & a medium long like "Stop Forwarding That Crap To Me"
But yes, the cover's been shot last month, though Al's had the title since February. Which means it's either based on an original song or just another nice funny title that doesn't relate to any song.
He's gonna go finish of the Alpocalypse Tour in October, ending with the 25th Anniversary of U.H.F. filming show in Tulsa, & he has said they won't start touring again until Al-bum 14 is finished. Which maybe means he'll be working on songs after the tour is over. Though I'm sure Al has been thinking of a couple acts that would make good parodies while he's with his family on break from touring.
During the book signing "tour", Al had also responded 2014 as a "maybe" for the release date, which seems likely.
Also, this could be Al's last traditionally released album since it's the last one on his record deal he's been thinking more about digital distribution (for timeliness). But he could also renew the contract since his record label probably won't be around for way much longer plus since he's an established artist he can switch over to iTunes whenever really. For now, AL IS "CAREFULLY WEIGHING HIS OPTIONS".
As for Al being a definite in Season 3 of ERB, I wouldn't assume so quickly. I've been spearheading the campaign to get him in by posting suggestions everywhere, so hopefully ERB considers him to portray someone or himself, or use him in a battle (preferably played by Zach Sherwin if they can't get Al). I know they've seen the suggestions, so cross your fingers!
Just thought I'd say AL'S BIRTHDAY IS IN 3 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yea
Al's...birthday...is...TOMORROW!!!!!!!
