Beat: It's been two days, has the novelty worn off? Nope, this is still my favorite beat ERB has ever used. I LOVE electric guitar beats, and they manage to throw in a bunch of different instruments at different times to keep it fresh. It's incredibly catchy in parts, and good God is it intense. It really feels like a battle between two heroes. While it doesn't fit the characters themselves too well, it fits the mood and theme of the battle very well. There's just so much to love here and almost nothing to hate. 10/10
Impressions and Costumes: I don't like the ERB logo on Superman. If they had hid ERB more subtley that would've been fine, but you can't just remove one of the most iconic parts of his costume. I would've given major props if they had the ERB logo form an S somehow, but they don't and it just looks dumb to me. Aside from that, everything is pretty perfect. Goku looks awesome in Super Saiyan form, and Krillin's costume is also very well done. Ray's voice is a bit too high for Goku, but it's not too far off. Superman has had so many variations that I didn't really care what they did with his voice. It doesn't sound particularly like any specific adaptation of Superman, but I don't mind, it sounds cool. 8/10
Superman-Round 1: Great start. Constipated jock is hilarious, even if not too clever. The animation line is pretty weak on its own, but the visual effect actually makes it one of the funniest lines in the battle. The rap bombs line is also pretty funny. The OG line isn't that great to me. I think the killing it line is a reference to Man of Steel, and if that's true, that's an awesome line. The hammer pants is funny enough, but when you realize Superman has x-ray vision, the line is even better. I like the subtle justice league reference, and the Chi-Chi line is good, although ERB's made similar jokes that have been more clever. The greasy line is alright. I wish they had made a better freeze breath joke. The last two lines aren't that great in my opinion, they don't really made any real jokes. Still, this verse is chock full of gold. I give it 9 points for lyrics with a bonus half point for flow. 9.5/10
Goku-Round 1: The first two lines aren't really jokes, so I'm not a fan of them. Some people say that the transformation makes it better, like the Walter White lines in the last battle and the animation line in this battle, but I don't really think the lines themselves have anything to do with the video here. So I say it's just a cool part of the video that doesn't save two average lines. The heat beams line isn't a joke either, and the flying miss daisy line is kind of a miss for me. I really like the sun-powered line though, and the kaioken line is alright, although I've kind of heard it before. The green rocks joke I've heard a million times before, and I don't think it's that funny anymore. The cameltoe line is funny, and the Superman dat ho line is pretty good, although it'd make more sense if Superman used it. So there's two lines I really like and two lines I think are better than average, which in 10 lines isn't that impressive. 7.5/10
Superman-Round 2: The fight scenes line isn't very good, but I love the over 9000 joke they made here. There are so many easy way outs they could've taken with that joke, and instead they went with a route I haven't seen done before. The Roshi line is pretty funny, and I've grown to like the Dragonball Deez line a lot. I will take off points for not making it very clear in the subtitles, and I think it would've been universally considered a good line here if they had done that better, but I think it's a pretty clever and subtle way of using a very generic insult. It reminds me of Bruce Lee's million dollar babies line, although that one was better because of the extra references. Still, I think it's pretty clever. 9/10
Goku-Round 2: Now I have nothing wrong with set up lines themselves, I have a problem with the quantity of them. When 50% of your verse is setting up, then that's 50% of the verse where there aren't going to be any laughs. The main reason I loved MLK's first verse so much is because it didn't need to set up that much, and they even had a CLEVER set up line in there (the swallow your words) line. Anyway, about the jokes they do attempt. The bat with no powers line isn't as bad as I used to think it was, but I still think there are way better jokes they could've made about Batman. The never walk again line is hands down the best line in the battle, that one cuts deep. So there are two jokes in this verse, with one hitting (never walk again) and one kind of hitting (bat with no powers), as opposed to Superman's four, where two undeniably hit (Over 9000 and Roshi), one arguably hits (Dragonball Deez) and one misses. I can't tell if I'm biased or what, but no matter how I calculate it, Superman always winds up crushing Goku in this battle. 8/10
Overall: This battle took a bit of getting used to for me, but now that I've had time to think, I say it's a pretty great battle. It sounds better than any battle they've ever done, because of the beat and flow. I'm pretty impressed with how Peter handled Goku having known nothing about him before hand. DBZ fans seem very happy with this battle. The video effects are also awesome, I almost forgot to mention that. So while it's not without its faults (I still think Goku is an average ERB rapper), it succeeds in far more ways than one. maybe even more than 9000 8.5/10
Superman's Best Line: Just one punch, and OVER 9000 SCREAMS!
Superman's Worst Line: Step in Metropolis, I'll snap a carrot period.
Goku's Best Line: (There's only one way that this battle can end) One more Superman who's never gonna walk again!
Goku's Worst Line: Defeat me with heat beams? You're crazy.
