I was trying to come up with a good opponent for Hayao Miyazaki. I'd seen Miyazaki vs Miyamoto before which I thought was decent, but I was looking for someone A. with huge name recognition and B. known for their visual style the same way Miyazaki is. And then it hit me - Tim Burton. He's a character a bunch of people have wanted for ERB for a long time anyway, everyone knows who he is, and I just think he'd clash really, really well against Miyazaki's bright, beautiful visual style.

So yeah, Hayao Miyazaki vs Tim Burton, animator-filmmakers known for their visual styles.

Miyazaki is one of my most wanted erb characters. Burton would be a great opponent, though I've always felt Miyazaki should be put against John Lasseter (Pixar). a lot of interesting things to compare/contrast between the two:
-hand drawn/traditional animation vs. modern cgi animation
-Miyazaki's pro-environmental messages vs. Lasseter's love for cars and machines
-plus there's the recent sexual misconduct allegations against Lasseter, which Miyazaki could make fun of considering the feminist themes in his films (something along the lines of "I give young girls strong role models to aspire to, the only thing you give girls is unwanted advances")

kinda wanna try writing this battle tbh

That's actually a pretty good idea. Always wanted to see John Lasseter in a battle, considering how I was first introduced to computer animation through Pixar and the sheer impact he has made on the animation world. I'd love to see it written if you have the time!

I think I’ve seen this one before but I think after teaching the Cold War I think it’s important. But J. Oppenheimer vs Victor Frankenstein.

My personal suggestion would be Charlie Chaplin vs Lon Chaney Sr. Silent comedy against silent horror. I think the crew would have fun with Chaney’s makeup as well.

"There is only one difference between a madman and me.
    I am not mad."

"It is not necessary for the public to know whether I am joking or whether I am serious, just as it is not necessary for me to know it myself."

"I'm so accustomed to being alone."

here's my latest idea: Jay Gatsby vs. Tom Sawyer

bonus points if Nick Caraway and Huckleberry Finn show up to spit a bar or two

ERB needs more literary characters, and I think this would be a good matchup. two characters from great american literary classics, but both very different: Gatsby is a rich and classy adult, but is deeply unsatisfied with his life. Sawyer is a poor rural boy, but very carefree and mischievous.
plus it would be neat to see how they'd handle another child rapper as I don't think we've seen one since young Michael Jackson

I just had a great battle idea...
    Jefferson Davis vs. Boris Johnson

Two figures who withdrew from "unions": Davis represents the confederate states' decision to secede from the union, Johnson represents the UK's decision to withdraw from the european union. southern secession vs brexit!
Both are also controversial figures considered by many to be poor leaders.

Nice Peter as Jefferson Davis and Dan Bull as Boris Johnson (Pete still needs to rap against Dan in a battle!)
plus ERB needs more contemporary world leaders beyond just america

thoughts? it would no doubt be a controversial battle but I'd love to see it, could be hilarious
