Peter did say that, and I'm not sure if Osama is the best opponent for Joker or vice versa, but I don't see what's so controversial about using Osama Bin Laden.

It's not like there are people who like him, and it's not like there are people who will get mad and stay away from the video merely at the mention of Osama. Not like Caitlyn Jenner at all.

Saddam is even less controversial imo. Saddam is pretty much no different than Kim Jong Il at all.

It's WAY too specific of a connection...Maybe Earhart vs. Lindbergh didn't quite work because there's not enough contrast, but Earhart vs. Wonder Woman lacks the comparison aspect of what makes a good match-up...

They need to have enough in common, but also enough that contrasts one another...That is my general rule of thumb with this series' match-ups...
Pretty much how I feel about it, but Wonder Woman vs Xena has problems too, which is a lack of contrast and a possible lack of recognition surrounding Xena.

And I'd add that a complex connection between two characters is fine, as long as there's also a clear snappy simple connection. When the average person sees Wonder Woman vs Earhart, I'd imagine it probably takes them a second to even remember that Wonder Woman had a plane in the comics. I know it took me a while to get any aspect of it.

Is the connection "female heroes" or "feminist icons" or something like that? I don't know how much I like that angle.

James Dean vs. Sylvester Stallone(both being famous for tough leads)
The Flash vs. Forrest Gump(both being famous for running)
Greek Heroes(Hercules, Perseus, Jason) vs. American Legends(Pecos Bill, John Henry, and Paul Bunyan)
Solid Snake and Raiden vs. Altaire and Ezio
Bellatrix Lestrange vs. Harley Quinn(This wasn't my idea, but I thought it was really good)
Steve and Blue vs. Shaggy and Scooby(Again, one I saw on YouTube, but really good)
Dr. Gregory House vs. Captain Hawkeye Pierce(Think of all the wit in that battle)
Johnny Depp as his many characters vs. Robin Williams as his many characters
    Tony Stewart vs. OJ Simpson
Screech Powers vs. Steve Urkel(and Sheldon interrupts)
    1. I guess. Not too strong of a connection, and probably limited interest. I think I'd prefer Stalone vs Vin Diesel, The Rock, or even Arnold S.
    2. The problem I have with this is that it really oversimplifies who Forrest Gump is. Running is just one of many of Forrest's fixations throughout the film, and I feel like the people who make these Forrest vs Runner suggestions, only know the quote "Run Forrest Run". I think he and Flash would have very little to really talk about.
    3. This one's somewhat interesting, but I don't think I'd really approve of any West vs East inspired suggestions.
    4. Nah, I don't think so.
    5. I mean, it's an interesting concept, but using Beatrix at all doesn't sound great, especially using her before Harry Potter himself. And the many iconic side characters yet to be used.
    6. Yeah, that one's alright. I still wonder how they would mix Scooby's animation with live action.
    7. I know who these people are, but I really doubt most people do. Especially Hawkeye (from MASH). House is quite old at this point and TV shows like that don't exactly age well, so I question how many people really care about him anymore.
    8. This is actually a really good one. I mean, there could be better Depp suggestions, or actor vs actor suggestions, but I like this one fine compared to the others on your list.
    9. Is their a connection beyond sports stars? If Tony Stewart killed his wife and that's the connection, then I don't think that's such a great idea.
    10. I really have no clue who that is, and I think it's actually pretty hard to get a character I have no clue about, lol. Dude from Saved by the Bell. Ok. I like Urkel vs Fonz, but question how many people know about the characters. This is one that I feel kind of confident almost nobody knows.

Elizabeth Bathory vs Mary I aka Bloody Mary (This would be so awesome!)
Roland Deschain (The Gunslinger from Dark Tower) vs. Claire Randall (The Outlander series)
    Malcolm Reynolds vs Han Solo
    1. Might want to avoid the Kardashians altogether after what happened with Caitlyn. I'm not sure.
    2. Seems overly historical
    3. Seems overly historical
    4. There are probably better opponents for Neil.
    5. Could be cool I guess. Might be too historical.
    6. Nah
    7. The guy from Firefly? I don't think that's a great idea.

That's not too bad. God of War vs "god" of Peace.

I hadn't considered Kratos fully. I'm not 100% sure whether that's the type of video game character they'd want to use.

And hopefully Peter isn't above using the Buddha.

But what about just Harriet Tubman vs Wonder Woman? Since Harriet will be replacing Andrew Jackson on the American $20 bill, she'll be very relevant as soon as they start printing them.
I think they were planning on putting Tubman on the 20 in the year 2020. While I don't think being on money makes you more relevant (how often do we talk about Alexander Hamilton or Ulysses S Grant?) I do think there will be generally a lot of excitement and interest over her in these next few years.

But like mashit said, the connection is still pretty thin.

Not too bad. Personally, I think a simple Frankenstein (and Monster) vs Dracula would be ideal.

    OR
    Henry VIII vs. Elizabeth I
    - Father vs. Daughter
    - Six wives vs. Virgin Queen

Diana, Princess of Wales vs. Marie Antoinette
    -
People's Princess vs. Queen executed by her people
    - Both met tragic ends in Paris
    - Both were fiercely loyal to their children
    - Whereas Marie and her husband Louis XVI got closer towards their end, Diana's husband Prince Charles never loved her and was involved in an affair during their marriage
    1. Not bad. I still think 1D vs Beatles could carry a lot of weight and was a very promising suggestion.
    2. Not too sure about the use of Friends characters. I realize it's a pretty iconic and monumental sitcom, but still unsure.
3 and 4. Both sound pretty meh to me, but I'm American, so what do I know.

I'd say that all six of the main Friends characters are worthy. The show is often called the best TV show ever.

I don't really think that Friends would be considered ERB worthy. I just don't see it happening. But, if they were in a battle, I would suggest maybe "Friends v. Seinfeld".

I think most of ERB's fanbase is of a generation too young for Friends, and the show hasn't had enough of a lasting impact, but I probably would've said the same about Bill and Ted.

Who do you guys think would be a better opponent for Karl Marx: Adam Smith or Ayn Rand? I think Rand would be more interesting and we'd have another man vs woman battle but Marx vs Smith would be a better "heel vs babyface" battle.

Definitely would prefer Marx vs. Smith. I don't really know if Ayn Rand would really be the best choice for an ERB.

It certainly is a legendary sitcom, but I don't think any of the characters would really be draws on their own. I think there would be some major recognition problems. If it was the lead cast, together as "Friends" in the title of the battle, then I could agree to it. Friends Cast vs Big Bang Theory Cast or Friends Cast vs Seinfeld Cast would be the ones that first come to mind.

Ayn Rand vs Karl Marx is actually pretty cool. But Adam Smith is probably the more accessible match up.

    1. Not sure if Gorillaz really strikes me as a group having "tons of American influence". 1D, Rolling Stones, Maroon 5 or Black Eyed Peas remain the best choices for Beatles I believe.
    2. That's honestly a pretty good one, but I doubt Sanders is going to really be relevant beyond this year.
    3. I honestly don't know who those DC characters are.
    4. Interesting. Probably would prefer Graham Bell.
    5. I don't think that person has much relevance outside the UK.
    6. Interesting. Especially the adding of Chelsea Manning. Not sure how well any of it would go over, or how much interest/recognition surrounds either of the main two characters.

    1. Yeah, I like that one a lot.
    2. Would be interesting to say the least. I kind of question the exact connection between the characters, other than two couples who are very close friends in real life. I'd hate to see it turn in to another Caitlyn Jenner thing, but I'd love to see the battle itself.
    3. Interesting. Could definitely work. I still think I prefer Aquaman vs Ariel.
    4. Eh. I really question if there's any interest or recognition surrounding these characters.
    5. Alright, and what's the connection here besides being very popular female characters?
    6. The specific connection being?
    7. I guess it could work. The characters might not have much actual material to work with though.
    8. The inventor of the Ferris wheel and Eiffel tower? I don't think so.
    9. Another one whose connection goes over my head.
    10. I like it. I'm surprised we haven't had another character like this since Bunny and Santa.
    11. This one is probably a better and more well rounded suggestion than most involving these two characters.
    12. The connection being that they are both from the south??

So I just came across a suggestion that I thought was absolutely brilliant.

Sigmund Freud vs. Norman Bates: A man known for his studies on mommy issues vs. the poster boy for mommy issues.

I don't know how other people feel but I really like it.
