Peter did say that, and I'm not sure if Osama is the best opponent for Joker or vice versa, but I don't see what's so controversial about using Osama Bin Laden.
It's not like there are people who like him, and it's not like there are people who will get mad and stay away from the video merely at the mention of Osama. Not like Caitlyn Jenner at all.
Saddam is even less controversial imo. Saddam is pretty much no different than Kim Jong Il at all.
Pretty much how I feel about it, but Wonder Woman vs Xena has problems too, which is a lack of contrast and a possible lack of recognition surrounding Xena.
And I'd add that a complex connection between two characters is fine, as long as there's also a clear snappy simple connection. When the average person sees Wonder Woman vs Earhart, I'd imagine it probably takes them a second to even remember that Wonder Woman had a plane in the comics. I know it took me a while to get any aspect of it.
Is the connection "female heroes" or "feminist icons" or something like that? I don't know how much I like that angle.
1. I guess. Not too strong of a connection, and probably limited interest. I think I'd prefer Stalone vs Vin Diesel, The Rock, or even Arnold S.
2. The problem I have with this is that it really oversimplifies who Forrest Gump is. Running is just one of many of Forrest's fixations throughout the film, and I feel like the people who make these Forrest vs Runner suggestions, only know the quote "Run Forrest Run". I think he and Flash would have very little to really talk about.
3. This one's somewhat interesting, but I don't think I'd really approve of any West vs East inspired suggestions.
4. Nah, I don't think so.
5. I mean, it's an interesting concept, but using Beatrix at all doesn't sound great, especially using her before Harry Potter himself. And the many iconic side characters yet to be used.
6. Yeah, that one's alright. I still wonder how they would mix Scooby's animation with live action.
7. I know who these people are, but I really doubt most people do. Especially Hawkeye (from MASH). House is quite old at this point and TV shows like that don't exactly age well, so I question how many people really care about him anymore.
8. This is actually a really good one. I mean, there could be better Depp suggestions, or actor vs actor suggestions, but I like this one fine compared to the others on your list.
9. Is their a connection beyond sports stars? If Tony Stewart killed his wife and that's the connection, then I don't think that's such a great idea.
10. I really have no clue who that is, and I think it's actually pretty hard to get a character I have no clue about, lol. Dude from Saved by the Bell. Ok. I like Urkel vs Fonz, but question how many people know about the characters. This is one that I feel kind of confident almost nobody knows.
1. Might want to avoid the Kardashians altogether after what happened with Caitlyn. I'm not sure.
2. Seems overly historical
3. Seems overly historical
4. There are probably better opponents for Neil.
5. Could be cool I guess. Might be too historical.
6. Nah
7. The guy from Firefly? I don't think that's a great idea.
That's not too bad. God of War vs "god" of Peace.
I hadn't considered Kratos fully. I'm not 100% sure whether that's the type of video game character they'd want to use.
And hopefully Peter isn't above using the Buddha.
I think they were planning on putting Tubman on the 20 in the year 2020. While I don't think being on money makes you more relevant (how often do we talk about Alexander Hamilton or Ulysses S Grant?) I do think there will be generally a lot of excitement and interest over her in these next few years.
But like mashit said, the connection is still pretty thin.
Not too bad. Personally, I think a simple Frankenstein (and Monster) vs Dracula would be ideal.
1. Not bad. I still think 1D vs Beatles could carry a lot of weight and was a very promising suggestion.
2. Not too sure about the use of Friends characters. I realize it's a pretty iconic and monumental sitcom, but still unsure.
3 and 4. Both sound pretty meh to me, but I'm American, so what do I know.
