The way you say it, it doesn't seem like you've seen The Dark Knight Rises. Who knows, maybe you'll like the movie. If not, it's a small price to play for a new computer. I don't think you're spoiled, but I think you should sit through it. Obviously, it means a lot to your dad. Plus, if your computer is literally a ''fire hazard'', then that just makes it less of a price. Not only would watching Batman be a nice thing to do, it would be a smart thing to do. So please, for your fellow forumers, for your dad, and for a new laptop, watch it. I guarantee that in the end, it will be more than worth it.

And another thing, I really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really hate Batman. My dad crams this stupid Dark Knight Rises down my throat and I just can't stand it. I'm just pissed off, Noremac! You don't have to say those mean things. Now my feelings are hurt. Happy Birthday to me.
ok fine. how about you be grateful for the fact that your parents even offered to get you a new computer. you dad just wants to spend time with you. and the fact that you say you hate your life because of the whole situation isn't mature at all. sorry if i hurt your feelings. but this is ridiculous. it shouldnt be about the computer is shouldnt be about the dark knight is should be about your birth and you coming into this life. it should be about sharing it with those who love and care about you. it was a deal that a lot would love to have. it doesn't matter that you hate the dark knight. and you know if you don't want to go to it then don't but just know it was a simple task that could've been done for a new computer.

but let me show you a little secret:[spoiler:3474yrwn]i still think your going to get the laptop[/spoiler:3474yrwn] rather you go to the movie or not. but how bout this: you say to your dad:
"you know dad, i really don't like the dark knight that much, but i still would like to do something with you can we do something else, i mean it is my birthday and spending the time at a movie i really dislike is not something i wanna do".

and sorry for calling you a spoiled brat but really that was the impression i was given and if i were to say something like this to my parents thats what they would call me on other things. but the situation and your reasponse to it did give off the impression: seeing a movie i dont like = new computer, not seeing it = no computer i chose not to see it, fml. i mean really? but i apologize but dont say stuff like fml unless something serious happened this isnt even minor its a first world problem. but again sorry

and some advice dont say stuff like this especially on the internet. its a place for trolls.

oh my god. this is the biggest piece of whinig I've ever read. I'm sorry, but it is true. you can't sit through a 3 hour movie? really? no the dark Knight Rises is not the best flick out there, but if it means I can get a new laptop that is far better then my current, it is well worth it. I'd watch all the Twilight films, and the Harry Potter flicks in a row for a new laptop.
this is the personal support section and I'm sure you're looking for someone to tell you how much your parents suck for making you do this, but that is not the case here. watch the film. it does not matter if you don't like it, its not like it will kill you. just do it.
I am sure you are not that big of a child to not sit through a movie with your father. is your father that bad of a person? do you hate his guts? does your skin crawl everytime he is around you? why can't you spend time with your dad?
in this spoiler is a reveal from Doctor Who's season 7 finale. don't look if you have yet to see it. but in 2 months time. the spoilers will be removed. and you will see what it is

No offence, Zoroark, but this is one of the biggest pieces of bull crap Ive ever read... Not only is Dark Knight Rises a GREAT film, but for a laptop?!?! When I want a new Mac, I must get strait A's, start working 3 jobs, pay for half of the Mac, pray to god I'll get it, do 5 times the house work I already do, AND wait for Christmas. What the F Zoroark??? I could rage longer, but then SUP will delete for being too rude (dont), or Doc will lock the WHOLE topic just because we have different opinions. (which is completely unnecessary, Doc). And you know what, Im 15 and I still dont even have a normal laptop! I use my moms! WATCH THE DAMN MOVIE! Sorry...

The Dark Knight Rises is 2 HOURS AND 45 MINUTES, for Christ's sake.

    Rotten Tomatoes rating - 87%
The Telegraph rating - 5/5 stars
    IGN rating - 9/10
Roger Ebert rating - 3/4 stars
    ^^^GOOD RATINGS.

And no one can should hate Batman so much that they won't see it to get a laptop.
So what's the deal? Are you afraid that a random guy is gonna walk in and kill a bunch of people like what happened in Aurora?
Some people call me Jacob (and you're certainly welcome to), but on this forum I go by the name…

I agree, but he should still watch the movie. If it has come to the point where his dad will buy him a laptop if he watches it, then it obviously means a lot to him. I think seeing it with him would be a nice thing to do for his dad.
